About Terra Keeper H.Q.

Welcome to TerraKeeperHQ. I’m Mitch, the creator behind this site.

My obsession with enclosed ecosystems started about 10 years ago. It all started with a single glass jar, a handful of gravel, and some forest moss. Watching a self-sustaining microcosm thrive behind glass quickly grew into a lifelong passion for designing, building, and perfecting indoor habitats.

That’s turned into ten years of building terrariums. The last eight of them alongside geckos, and the past five with tarantulas in the mix too. These days that means a rotating cast of leopard and crested geckos, a couple of bioactive tarantula enclosures, and more glass tanks than I probably want to admit to.

Building a functional indoor habitat isn’t just about making something that looks good on a shelf. It’s an exercise in balance. Whether you’re dialing in the precise temperature gradients for a leopard gecko, maintaining tropical humidity for a crested gecko, or selecting the ideal substrate mix to prevent mold and support a bioactive cleanup crew, every detail matters.

I created TerraKeeperHQ to share practical, tested advice. I did this so you can skip the trial-and-error phase and build thriving environments from day one.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Terrarium & Bioactive Systems — drainage layer mechanics, custom substrate blending, plant selection, and establishing healthy colonies of isopods and springtails for self-sustaining habitats.
  • Reptile Environments & Care — comprehensive guides covering enclosure sizing, heating, lighting, humidity control, and dietary needs, tailored to leopard geckos, crested geckos, and their close relatives.
  • Tarantula & Invertebrate Setups — enclosure design, substrate depth requirements, ventilation, and species-specific care to keep arachnids healthy and secure.

Whether you’re assembling your first glass container or engineering a fully bioactive tropical vivarium, TerraKeeperHQ is built to give you the exact blueprints you need.
